CBSE extends answer book copy deadline to May 24
CBSE extends deadline for scanned answer books, students can now apply till May 24
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for students to apply for scanned copies of their answer books for Class 12 board exams. Students can now submit applications until May 24, giving them one extra day to complete the process.
Earlier, the last date to apply for scanned copies was May 23. However, the board decided to extend the deadline after facing technical problems on its website.
Students who want to get a scanned copy of their evaluated answer books can apply online through the official CBSE website. This facility allows students to carefully check their answer sheets and understand how marks were given in the examination.
According to CBSE, the website has been facing very high traffic in recent days. The board also mentioned that there were attempts of unauthorised interference, which affected the smooth functioning of online services.
Because of these technical difficulties, many students may have faced problems while applying for scanned copies. To ensure that no student misses the opportunity, the board decided to extend the deadline.
CBSE said the decision was taken to help students and make sure everyone gets enough time to complete the process.
Students who receive scanned copies of their answer sheets and feel there are mistakes in marking can later move to the next stage, such as verification of marks or re-evaluation.
The board has also informed students that after receiving their scanned answer sheets, they will get up to two days to apply for the next process if they notice any issue.
This means students should carefully review their answer books once they receive them and decide quickly if they want further verification or re-evaluation.
Many students use scanned answer books to understand whether marks have been counted correctly or if any question was left unchecked.
The process helps students gain clarity and reduces confusion about examination results.
How students can apply for scanned answer books
Students who want scanned copies of their answer books must apply themselves through the official CBSE website.
Once the application is approved, the scanned answer sheet will be uploaded to the student’s login account. From there, candidates can download and view the evaluated answer book.
CBSE has said that scanned copies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. This means students who apply earlier may receive their copies earlier.
For example, students applying on the first day of the process are likely to receive their scanned answer sheets before those applying later.
Students are allowed to request scanned copies for one subject or multiple subjects. However, there is an important rule they must remember.
The application has to be completed in one go. Students cannot apply for one subject first and later return to add another subject.
This means candidates should decide all the subjects for which they want answer books before submitting the application.
Students should also carefully review all details while filling the form to avoid mistakes.
The scanned copy helps students understand where marks were awarded and whether there may be any issue with evaluation.
If students believe that certain answers were not checked properly or marks were calculated incorrectly, they may choose to move to verification or re-evaluation.
CBSE says the scanned answer sheet is an important step because only students who apply for the photocopy of answer books become eligible for the next stages of the review process.
This gives students a fair chance to review their marks before making further requests.

What students should know about re-evaluation
After checking scanned answer books, students who feel there is an issue can apply for verification or re-evaluation.
However, only those students who have already applied for the scanned answer book can move to this stage.
CBSE has explained that students should refer to the official marking scheme and question paper before raising objections.
The marking scheme will be available on the official website and helps students understand how marks were supposed to be awarded.
Students can use it to compare answers and check whether marks were given properly.
The status of re-evaluation and verification requests will be updated in the student’s login account.
Students are advised to regularly check their login details to track updates.
CBSE has also made an important point clear — marks can go up or down after re-evaluation.
This means that if mistakes are found, marks may increase, but there is also a possibility of marks decreasing, even by one mark.
Students should therefore apply carefully after reviewing their answer sheets properly.
The board has clearly stated that once re-evaluation is completed, the result will be considered final.
No appeal or second review will be allowed after the process ends.
The marks awarded after re-evaluation will become final and binding on students.
Education experts say students should not panic while reviewing answer sheets. Instead, they should carefully compare their answers with the marking scheme and decide whether re-evaluation is really needed.
The extension of the deadline gives students more time to complete the process without stress.
For now, students who wish to get scanned copies of their answer books should make sure they apply before May 24 and carefully review their papers once received.
